Nympho
"V.I.P."
Label: Perris Records
Straight out of Brazil we are presented with Nympho, a sleaze/Glam rock band with their debut album “V.I.P”. Criss Sexx is the front man and producerof the band, while alongside him there is Dick on guitars, Olavo Barrocka on bass, and Pablo Pinheiro on drums. The album cover and the name of the band really caught my attention, although in a negative way. But then I guess, even bad publicity is good publicity. It’s just that by first glance it seems like it’s a school band trying to live out the ‘Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll’ lifestyle. Upon listening to the album all I got from it was a confirmation to what I believed when I saw the cover and the name of the band. With song titles like “Get Down (Nymphomaniac)” and “Tits & Ass”…What more can I say? I have to say though that “Ignited” is a good opening song for the album. A mid-tempo Twisted Sister-like song with a Motley Crue attitude. “I Ain’t Over You” is a ballad which has potential but goes down a steep slope because it doesn’t have any dynamics and no emotion, unlike “Say It” which is also a ballad but better because it has more spunk than the previous one. From the rest of the album you can clearly tell who they are influenced by. Bands such as Poison, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister and a little hint of Alice Cooper can be heard as influences through Nympho’s music. I found the album very poor but the band in itself has potential. I hope in their next album we will hear a tighter band with a mature sound in their music and production.
