Strike Twice
"S/T"
Label: Eonian Records
I have to start by congratulating Eonian Records for their work in discovering unknown bands from the 80s and decided to release them to make them known today. One of those discoveries is this same titled album by Strike Twice and if we would want more information we would have to go back to 1985, when they were formed. The internet references on how the band was formed are quite funny since, st points they resemble a movie! For example, the guitarists, even before the band came into being, they hung out in NY drinking and they offered the bass job to the bartender. In general, the Strike Twice lived the rock star life without having a contract, either because of bad luck, either because they did not have a suitable agent. All they did was win a contest in 1991, named “Good Times” in the NY area. Musically speaking, the band gives us the power of bands like Ratt, Skid Row and the early Motley Crue, without being innovative but not being copy-cats too. There are three ballads in this album “One Night With You”, “Wake Up Crying”, “Never Let You Go”, more Poison-esque or Faster Pussycat styled, quite catchy for the genre. Out of the faster tracks, “Tango”, “Dirty Lover” and “Don’t Fuck With Me” are the most interesting, without the rest falling far behind. The production is relatively good and the band’s attitude is set forth quite evidently. Conclusively, the CD is good and is worth checking out and supporting. What I discovered in the process, is that during their shows, the band had strippers dancing. They also had a background of TVs, playing porn! But that’s the 80s people…
