Inevitable End
"The Severed Inception"
Label: Relapse
There are many people out there that follow and adore all Relapse records’ releases! Lately, the American label seems to have turned their interest towards Europe since Inevitable End comes from Alingsås, Sweden. In contrast to the rest of their European additions who do grindcore (Obscura is the exception), “The Severed Inception” is a death metal album. Truth is they sound quite American! In some times they sound like Nile, in others some Origin while they have some grindcore elements. The album starts impressively with the title track and “Dreamsight Synopsis” keeps the level high. However, the rest of the album has a lot of ups and downs with most characteristic the end in “Firstborn All Dead”. Maybe their problem is based on lack of proper connection of their various ideas since there are plenty of repetitive riffs and some ‘radical’ (always in some limits for their style…) crosses from one theme to the other that don’t fit. As a first effort “The Severed Inception” leaves great promises for a better future. The band sounds tight and with great aggression. Considering their long past in the scene, though, the demands rise. |
