Jeff Scott Soto
"One Night In Madrid"
Label: Frontiers
Jeff Scott Soto (a.k.a. JSS) is one of those artists that no matter where he is, no matter what he does, no matter what he decides to do, it is certain that he will meet an army of people that will embrace him and lift him high. And this is because, throughout his long career, he made sure to honor his name, his artistic quality and the music that he serves and he also made sure that he always presented his fans with things right out of his soul, embroidered into his special personality and culture. Indeed, JSS has managed so many things all these years, things that will follow him and that will characterize him, things that we all loved and respected, one way or another. All those things we all cherished and still sing along to. And he also managed so many other, different things, more or less successful, managing to establish himself as one of the most important figures and one of the most important vocalists of contemporary hard rock music. Through each and every one of his endeavors, through each and every aspect of his music and also through his unique artistic adaptability to any form and genre, Jeff sealed a whole generation of musicians and bands, from Y. Malmsteen’s guitar driven heavy metal to Axel Rudi Pell’s melodic metal and from Talisman to his own, distinctive works. Above all, though, JSS is an immaculate live performer, one of those performers one owes to oneself to watch live if one considers oneself a demanding rock fan. Either with Talisman or with Journey, either with the amazing Boogie Knights or his own bands, Jeff is a unique and distinct frontman, one that is able to warm up a bunch of frozen Eskimos in a mere five minutes. This Frontiers release, captures Jeff at a special night during his latest European tour and at a crossroads of his career, after his pretty nice Beautiful Mess album, together with an excellent band of musicians that he met along his several co operations and while he tirelessly ventured throughout the world. And what a gig this is!!! A double CD, full of moments out of Jeff’s rich career, embroidered in that unparalleled spirit that only he knows how to offer. With cuts out of Talisman’s works and, mostly, out of his personal albums, masterfully and quite cleverly combined with all that funky, crazy mood he carries along, with the help of great musicians, Jeff sends his roaring energy right into our living room and carries us straight into his vital space. Even if you don’t prefer live releases, save a part of your holiday budget for this Live In Madrid album and, even better, save some more and get the DVD too! Just because it’s about the one and only Jeff Scott Soto!! |
