Metalforce
"S/T"
Label: Magic Circle Music
This is the first official release from the German true metallers Metalforce, although this isn’t a new band. Metalforce were known to the underground fans as Majesty, who had released four studio and one live album. In 2007, they sighed with DeMaio’s record company, Magic Circle, changed their name, played a very good show at 2008’s edition of Magic Circle Festival, and now the time has come for their first CD, hoping that finally classic heavy metal will be popular again. Metal fans who have heard the Majesty albums know what to expect from this new record. Classic metal without aberrations or junky novelties, exactly the way a heavy metal band must play – if it wants to be characterized like that. This is the second time this year that Germany surprises us (the first one was Wizard’s “Thor”) and it seems that the Germans have no opponents in metal. The bombastic “Faster, Louder, Metalforce” prepares us properly for the continuation. This is one of this year’s best songs, ideal for opening track of the album. In a total of 11 songs, it is really surprising that there isn’t a single one filler track, in contrary to the Majesty albums which had some mediocre songs. “Melt Thy Steel”, “Metal Crusaders”, “Let The Battle Begin” are only some of these metal hymns that we rarely listen from new bands, while the album’s ballad “When The Valkries Fly” gives us the chance to listen a very beautiful solo from Ross The Boss. Who cares if their influences from Manowar, Hammerfall, etc. are more than just noticeable? Who cares if their lyrics are more graphic than those of “Metal Warriors”? If you think that when a band stays loyal to its ideals, this is a bad thing, then you don’t have to listen to Metalforce’s new CD. There are plenty modern new releases, you know, those with the rap vocals, the non existent solos and the groovy riffs. The rest of you that still love heavy metal don’t pass it by. So, Metal to the Metalheads!! |
