"
Hubris I & II"

Label: Mascot

Sepultura axeman proves to be a very busy and restless fellow since he returns with his first, solo effort after the band’s latest CD and his cover band ‘Hail’. This act consists mostly of Brazilian musicians with most noticeable Jean Dolabella who drums for Sepultura.

So Hubris I & IIis a double CD with the first disc being more electric and the second more acoustic. Thehardest’ tracks have the Seps’ sound with kind of rock mood and Kisser doing melody, vocal lines. There are some lyrics in Portuguese next to the English ones done by Vasco Fae while besides a lot of percussion you’ll come up with harmonica and piano. One could describe these songs as ‘south American desert rock’ and the instrumentalR.H.E.Tor "A Million Judas Iscariotes" are its most memorable moments.

On the second disc the guitarist takes upon his acoustics and tries stuff closer to “Kaiowas”. In here the careless, chill out feeling is dominant along with the latin element and some classical parts. The ‘road’ song that ends the album named “O Mais Queridois somewhat funny but cool. Without any impressive moment, the second disc is richer in variety.

Artistically speaking, Hubris I & II” succeeds in presenting something different in Kisser’s career until now; thus there is a point in its release. That doesn’t mean that this is the next CD Sepultura fans are going to get or that it’s a fantastic release. I guess guitarists and friends of experiments by metal musicians could check it out.
