Blackwood Creek

"S/T"

Label: Frontiers

Right out of the blue, there comes a time when you look back and realize that sometime, somewhere you have something left behind. Something forgotten and neglected. Old deals, loved friends of old, nice moments and memories. Nice things that you started so long ago and now seem like a dream that never came to be true, even though, meanwhile, you have managed to turn all your ambitions to reality.

It is a fact that everyone that has tasted the waters of music, made their bands and their music and had huge, average or no success at all, they come to a point that they recall the times that it all started. That’s exactly when this feeling of unaccomplished comes to play and that’s when the need to go back to your roots is born.

Kip Winger and Peter Fletcher are childhood buddies. Back in 1969, in Colorado, in a small gold rush town suitably named Littleville, lost somewhere on the Mid-Western USA map, the two friends and Kip’s brother Nate gathered and formed a band named Blackwood Creek, performing in several local bars and clubs for a good ten years before they went their own ways.

All those years later, in 2007, they got back together and they recorded eleven songs that were meant to be put together in an album, that album that is today the Blackwood Creek album. Forty years of experience and musical evolution of three musicians that never got to get together at their peak, however so fresh and vigorous as if it was made back in their days of youth. An album filled with all those little things that make a young band stand out and flourish and create a true momentum.

Kip just released a new exciting Winger album and, almost simultaneously, he releases this new exciting Blackwood Creek album too, without being daunted by the juncture. And neither do we…
