Dare
Arc Of The Dawn"
Label: Legend Records
Five years later, Dare return carrying with them all those beautiful elements that usually accompany their albums.
This album contains twelve tracks close to what we experienced in “Beneath The Shining Water”. For the ones that are not familiar, we are talking about a “voyaging” kind of music with strong Irish and Celtic elements combined with the unbelievably sweet voice of Darren Wharton, making you close your eyes and dream. This might be considered to be tiresome and boring, especially since the rhythms do not change, staying put to a mid to fast tempo, but this is not true. Starting with “Dublin”, “Shelter In The Storm”, “Follow The River”…For the ones of you that have not listened to any of the past albums you can realise what’s going on even from the titles alone. It keeps on the same nostalgic mood up to closing with the astonishing “Remember” and “Circles”. Of course, the two arrangements of the classic Thin Lizzy song “Emerald” and the Cheap Trick hit “The Flame”, they are so well performed that mold into the whole easily. Kudos to guitar player Richie Dews for the meticulous job.
I won’t say more. Honestly, the only thing I could say about this album is this…voyage…and I would also suggest that you should take this CD, put it in your car stereo and take a stroll…you’ll know what I mean…
Congratulations Dare! |
