"Process Of A New Decline"

Label: Listenable Records

This band was created in 1997 in France’s Bordeaux and was named “Gorgasm”. The band’s line up changed many times, as the band had been experimenting with many p combinations until they ended up with the suitable one for them, even though no one from the present members is of the original line up. After, they renamed themselves to “Gorod” in order to avoid confusion with the band from Chicago, which had the same name.

The record begins aggressively with the song “Disavow Your God”, but in my opinion you should disavow the song (I wish it would be the only song that someone had to disavow!). When the first guitar melody came to my ears I wondered: who’s raised the volume of the Nintendo so much??? But I immediately realized that the sound was running out of my own CD player! I was hoping that the second “Programmers Of Decline” and the third track “Diverted Of Senses” could take the pain away from this experience, as they seemed to have more rhythm than the others. Totally disappointed! Ok… play death technical metal, but thus far! All tracks begin with unimportant riffs up to their end our music conscience has been totally eliminated! There is so much gabbling that you hardly avoid getting bored when listening to the entire record! Furthermore, all the songs sound so much alike and especially as far as the style of vocals. I was impressed by the fact that the French group gave a symphonic attitude to “Splinters Of Life”, which makes the difference from the track list. I have to admit that one of the songs that is really funny is “Guilty Of Dispersal”, which begins with a groovy playing of bass, drums and guitars. Surprising is also the track “Waterseed”, which has a sympathetic jazz intro, but… once more the track is cursed by Guillaume’s presumed chronic vocals and by Malmsteen’s influence on the guitars.
Ι don’t really have a problem with the particular artist, but Gorod’s death metal is already too complicated, they don’t need to make it even more of that.

Salvation didn’t arise until after the end of the album. Nintendo was on fire, Gorod should find out Playstation and become more…noiseless! Enough is enough!
