Europe
"Last Look At Eden"
Label: Ear Music/Universal
This is a new studio release from Europe, after the very good release of “Almost Unplugged”. The band’s line-up is the same and in general the songs continue from where “Start From the Dark” and Secret Society” left off, in the same dark -in general- atmosphere but at the same time combined with all the charismatic elements of Europe that make them unique.
More precisely and according to statements coming from the members, the music is a combination of today and yesterday and this is obvious from the beginning. In other words, the listener can easily hear heavy tunings, played with melodic couplets, melodic solos and dark-arranged keys. The band performs great and all members give the best of them, something that is obvious in the compositions and in their performing through which the band is trying to satisfy its new and its old friends.
The cd consists of 12 tracks that can satisfy most of the musical hard rock tastes; mid tempo, faster tempo tracks and ballads as well. The title track is the first single, a powerful and fresh song which totally combines new rock and vintage, it is the trademark of the cd I would say, while, in general, the whole release puts Europe back in the game. The production is also awesome and it helps significantly the material to be presented in the way it should be and the listener to clearly hear the message that the band sends.
In all, with this release, “Last Look At Eden”, Europe make a dynamic come back to today’s musical reality claiming their own share and confirm that they have a lot to give to their new and to their old friends. We can do nothing less but give them our total support for they worth it!
