High Noon
"No Turning Back"
Label: Eonian Records
High Noon were a Los Angeles based outfit that sizzled and burned for a period between 1989 and 1993. They played all over the U.S. and they made a good name in the glam scene but they broke up during 1993, citing the grunge blowout as the major reason for their demise. This year, the new record company Eonian records releases this compilation that contains all the demos of the band. Of course the band play 80’s hair metal and in many places they sound like Dokken, particularly the guitar playing of Ken Hitsman, that brings in mind George Lynch, especially in the first song. On “Rude Boy” the band has many groove/blues influences in the vein of Tora Tora, while “Have My Heart” –the best track of the cd- ‘smells’ heavily of White Lion, which is always a good thing. “When The Night Calls”, from their second and their best demo, is the first of some more heavy tracks that show us that the band’s sound slowly became more heavy and rough. Generally, this is an interesting, entertaining and complete compilation that targets only in the very fanatics of the genre as High Noon isn’t a band that deserved much more than what they got in their short career. Despite the presence of this cd in the market, there doesn’t seem to be any inclination to reform the band again. Now, if the sales are good, who knows? |
