"Universal Language"
Label: Metal Heaven
David Reece is a name we all remember from his days in Accept and the release of “Eat the Heat”. After wandering around in several projects and bands, he releases his first solo album. I honestly didn’t know what to expect when I started listening to the album. However I was shortly already enjoying the album, consisting of a good track list and catchy melodies. The songs are European hard rock oriented, with some heavier parts as well which fit great. The band consists of some excellent European musicians, who have also worked with some big names in the business. In particular, we find Andy Susemihl (ex-U.D.O.), Stefan Schwarzmann (ex-U.D.O., ex-Accept) and Jochen Fünders (ex-Holy Moses) and the influences in the style of the songs just makes sense. The cd consists of 12 tracks with some great dynamic riffs and catchy choruses that can hardly escape your senses, edged by Reece’s voice. Reece’s low vocals can remind you of Bruce Dickinson, but still remain in his personal hard rock style, while he hardly ever delivers any high pitches. His vocals are just the ones that should be. Plus, the production is not ‘too-much’, however it is just the way it used to be, considering the songs. Finally, this release is a very good start for David Reece and every classic hard rock fan should give it a listen.
