"This is Gonna Hurt"

Label: Eleven Seven Music

Sixx:A.M. are not the average band you know. Is Nikki Sixx’s mark and when they came to light they moved people because they depicted a person’s drama, his most inner thoughts on his own life and his own probable death. And, in essence, it was not about music but a book, accompanied by such good music that it was inevitable to be branded by it.

Today, Sixx and his buddies decide to release one more album. A photo-album this time, also accompanied by fresh music. And here lies the danger. The first time, the whole project was so original that its appeal was guaranteed and the music, no matter how good, was either way secondary in importance. If it came out to be special it would be great if not the book was what was important.

So, this time the whole thing could easily be misunderstood and people coule easily consider this new thing as an attempt to exploit the Heroin Diaries success. And maybe this is true, however at this instance music is more important.

And the music is good. Pretty good. This is Gonna Hurt is a complete album and even if it still accompanies a printed edition, it gives a totally different impression than the Heroin Diaries. At that instance the music was complimentary and the songs had a different role to play. At this instance, everything is complete and substantial and the consequent feeling is as such.

The album is exquisite as well. From the opening, same titled This Is Gonna Hurt with its post grunge style and momentum, the Lies of the Beautiful People which was the first single for the book and the album, Live Forever with its beautiful chorus until Skin that closes the album. Exquisite and necessary, fresh and totally contemporary and modern, This Is Gonna Hurt is between the top 2011 albums no matter what comes after it.

Rush out and get it…
