Legacy
"S/T"
Label: Eonian Records
No matter how hard you try it is very difficult to find, even a dedicated White Metal fan that is familiar with this hidden treasure band. Some times, to find a diamond you need to try hard or at least somebody that will offer the motive for you to search. From here and on, Legacy should be regularly appreciated by the fans of this genre. The album “Legacy” is released by the American label Eonian Records and it would be a grave mistake to let it go. Is Don Dokken pius? What would George Lynch have to say about it? Will the 80s metallers Bride and Saint listen to this collection of unreleased songs from Legacy’s days of purity? It is certain that Stryper and Leatherwolf offered their big share to the metal genre during the 80s? Would the totally obscure but brave Hawk, band of the charismatic singer David Fefolt be able to reemerge a quarter of a century later? Of what value is this lost recordings hunt? The chaotic description above, offers a sonic review of “Legacy”. Legacy’s message took form in 1987 in Ohio and the band followed the well known “we broke up before we did anything” pattern, which is more or less irrelevant to this piece. It’s more relevant to check out what is inside “Legacy”. Fourteen cuts separated with no more than 5 years that mark the Americans band’s trademark. Main characteristic is the med tempo forms, flooded by minor scale metallic melodies and in between the distinguishing and very appropriate voice of Doug Meacham. Dokken are a distinct point of influence, along with Stryper, the 80s Scorpions and maybe a bit of Leatherwolf or Sword. There is a moody ambience around, very agreeable orchestrations and we can put aside that fourteen trucks are of a mid tempo are probably too much, I cannot see any reason that a fan of the American melodic guitar driven heavy metal would not give in to “Legacy”. This CD is very well written and excuses of the “I cannot listen to Christian songs…” type, are inexcusable. Waiting for more releases of the kind by Eonian Records, lets congratulate this release. The album rocks…
